Ramadhan Iftar Dinner

By JOL Admin | 1 October 2008

"Iftar" is an Arabic word which refers to the breaking of the daily fast during the Islamic traditional month of Ramadhan.

On Thursday 25 September Simon Farley from the State Library's Heritage Collections Unit had the pleasure of attending the Ramadhan Iftar dinner at the Multifaith Centre at Griffith University.

Panel discussion

The evening was convened by Faiza El-Higzi and included an address by Richard Cowley from the International Day of Peace Alliance and a panel discussion on fasting moderated by Faiza with Christian (Dennis Scanlan from the Catholic Church), Jewish (Ariel Herber), and Muslim (Ismail Moola) representatives.

Many thanks to the organisers of this event, including Rubana Moola, for a great night of insightful dialogue, beautiful food, and generous hospitality.
