Nundah Highlands Estate, 1917. John Oxley Library, State Library of Queensland
This real estate map from 1917 advertises 162 allotments of land for sale at the Nundah Highlands Estate, located today in the Brisbane suburbs of Nundah and Northgate.
The allotments are situated on present day Sandgate Road, Northgate Road, Maynard Road, Cavendish Street, Little Street and Flower Street.
Prior to the sale extensive publicity was published in Brisbane newspapers.
"The highest and healthiest situation in the sea breezy northern suburbs. Easy distance to Nundah Railway Station. Rich red volcanic soil for gardens. Close enough to Sandgate to go for your morning dip." (The Telegraph, 13 August 1917, p.12).

An auction was held at the ground on 25 August 1917. The results of the sale were published in The Daily Mail newspaper.
"Messrs. Isle, Love, and Co. had a very successful sale in connection with the Highlands Estate, Nundah, on Saturday. Altogether 162 sites were available for auction, and they were nearly all disposed of for approximately £5,000 . A few blocks remained and these will be disposed of privately. The land is excellently situated, having north-easterly slopes and fine views of the surrounding district and the bay." (Daily Mail, 29 August 1917, p.5).
