New accession: Leonard Christian Williamson Photograph Album (1940-1950)

State Library of Queensland holds an extensive collection of published and unpublished resources relating to World War Two. The most recent addition to this collection is a photograph album donated recently by the descendants of Leonard Christian Williamson (1909-1950).

Mr Williamson, a Staff Sergeant by rank, served with 3/14 Australian Field Ambulance. Born in Rockhampton on 3 February 1909, he enlisted on 7 July 1940 and was discharged on 19 December 1945.

The photographs are an important and often amusing record of the soldiers' everyday life in North Queensland, including time spent finding oysters, cleaning the camp at Miowera after a cyclone and relaxing at South Molle Island.
