A recent acquisition for State Library of Queensland’s Original Materials collection are two photographs by Glen O’Malley, a photographer from North Queensland.
Glen has exhibited nationally and internationally since 1975. He has had over thirty solo exhibitions, including Ich Folgte Einfach Nur Den Stufen at Galerie Thorsten Billib, Berlin in 2004 and has taken part in over one hundred group exhibitions.
Glen O’Malley is represented in many Australian collections: Australian National Gallery, National Library of Australia, Queensland Art Gallery, Stockman's Hall of Fame, University of Southern Queensland and The University of Queensland.
The two photographs recently acquired by the State Library of Queensland are 'Vietnam Moratorium, Brisbane, 30 June 1970' and 'March against Street March Laws, Gladstone, 7 December 1978',
These images will be included in the Freedom Then, Freedom Now exhibition which opens in 5 May 2017. This exhibition draws on the extensive collections of SLQ to reminisce, reflect on and explore freedoms lost and won in Queensland.
