The Ipswich Historical Society recently launched their new website. The new site provides details on all their upcoming events and projects.

The Ipswich Historical Society was founded in October 1966 as a result of a need in the community for the collection and preservation of the history of the Ipswich region.

In July 1967, the Society began its search for suitable premises for meetings and to establish an Historical Museum.

The Society commenced collections of items of interest in February, 1969.

On the second of March 1982, the Society launched the book “Romance on the Bremer” and it was reprinted in 1992.

The Society members have actively participated on many occasions in the celebration of history of the region which have included the turning of the first sod re-enactment for the railways, and the Colour City Festival (now called the Ipswich Festival).
