GOLD COAST CITY MARINA & SHIPYARD TO DOUBLE IN SIZE WITH $100M REVAMP

By Administrator | 5 October 2018

A new project to expand the Gold Coast City Marina & Shipyard (GCCM) has been described as an "exciting coup" for the city's ever-expanding marine industry as it continues to strengthen its global reputation for excellence in the Asia-Pacific region.

With its Stage 2 project valued in excess of $100 million, the marina and shipyard which is already the largest of its kind in the southern hemisphere will double in size through the development of an adjacent 20-hectare site.

CEO Trenton Gay, whose family purchased the GCCM Stage 2 site on Beattie Road more than 10 years ago, says the city's industry is becoming a leading destination for marine re-fit and repair in the region.

The facility is growing exponentially each year with more than 80 marine businesses on site, employing over 700 of Australia's most highly skilled marine contractors and servicing vessels ranging from tinnies to 70+ metre superyachts.

Once Stage 2 is complete, GCCM will occupy 37.5 hectares within the Gold Coast's 250-hectare marine precinct, and its marine re-fit capacity will increase by 400 per cent.

"Submissions for this site have been lodged with authorities and once approvals are in place, construction for the first stage will be imminent," Gay says. Read more
