So much on offer at State Library.  Find a space to suit whether you need peace and quiet to study or a space to have a meeting. Become a State Library member to book your session in one of our many spaces. Membership is free and you can join online in minutes. Members can update their details online.

Computers/internet

State Library members can book an individual computer/internet session on level 3.

Computers are available for two sessions daily:

Monday to Friday: 9am–12pm & 1–4pm
Saturday and Sunday: 10am–12pm & 1–4pm.

Computers are also available in the Infozone for 60-minute sessions on a first-come basis. You will need to check in upon arrival.

Study spaces

State Library members can book an individual study space on level 3. Choose between a table or a bench overlooking the river.

Study spaces are available for two sessions daily:

Monday to Friday: 9am–12pm & 1–4pm
Saturday and Sunday: 10am–12pm & 1–4pm.

Microform and family history research.  If you require access to equipment such as the microform reader printer, Minolta reader printer, fiche reader or microform reader, please call us on 07 3840 7810 (Mon-Fri, 9-5) to pre-arrange access and the conditions of use during your visit. Alternatively you can use our Ask us service for research assistance.

If you would like to use any items from the Information Collections during your visit, please request them in One Search before your booking so they can be ready for your session. We recommend requesting your items at least one day prior to your booking.

Study Desks at JOL - quiet area

State Library members can book an individual study space on level 4.

Desks are available for two sessions daily (10am–1pm and 2–5pm).

Please note: Heritage Collections are not available in this area. To access these collections, please book a space in the Heritage Collections access area.

Heritage Collections research

State Library members can access our Heritage Collections on level 4.

Spaces are available for two sessions daily (10am–1pm and 2–5pm).

Please request any collection items in One Search before your booking so they can be ready for your session. We recommend requesting your items at least one day prior to your visit.

Please note: To protect our valuable collections, food and drink, bags and pens are not permitted in this area.

State Library members that have completed an induction can book in to work on their projects in 3x 1:45 hour sessions on Wednesday and Thursdays (12:00 - 1:45 pm, 2:00 - 3:45 pm, 4:00 - 5:45 pm)
