Are you a member of a Queensland public library and would like to borrow from State Library’s Information Collection, without visiting Brisbane? Send to my public library service is for you. Send to my public library is a service which connects Queensland residents with State Library’s Information Collections through their local participating public library.
State Library has a range of material in the Information Collections available for loan for all Queensland residents, among these are books, magazines, music scores and audio-visual items. If you’re not yet a member of a Queensland public library, join your local library before you complete any Sent to my public library request, as we require you to quote your local library membership number.
Requesting couldn’t be easier!
- We always advise to search your local library’s catalogue first to ensure they don’t already hold the item you are interested in.
- If not held by your local library, simply find the item you want in our catalogue, One Search.
- Click on the Send to my public library link in the One Search record. If you don’t see a link, it will be an indicator that the item is not eligible to send via Send to my public library.
- Complete the online form selecting the public library of which you are a member. Note: Not all Queensland public libraries participate in this service, so if you don’t see your local library listed you can contact them directly about other options.
- If they are a participating library, great! Just add your personal details, including library membership number.
- Submit the form.

Once your request is submitted, we will despatch the item to your nominated library, and they will inform you directly when the item is available for you to collect.
If you do not see a Sent to my public library link in the request section of a catalogue record, it will because the item is not eligible under this service and may be restricted to onsite access only (e.g. Queensland Memory Collections). There may be other access options available so please do not hesitate to contact us.
Remember, if your public local library service is not listed as a participating library, please contact them directly in relation to your request.
