Queensland breweries

By JOL Admin | 6 October 2008

Recently, there have been press reports of a proposed commercial development above the Milton railway station, near Brisbane's iconic Fourex Brewery.

Breweries have long been a part of Brisbane's landscape as well as of the landscape of many other Queensland cities and towns. Breweries such as the Bulimba Brewery, the City Brewery and the West End Brewery have come and gone, to be replaced by others becoming popular in their turn.

The John Oxley Library's photographs collection contains many images of these former breweries, many of which are now available via the State Library's Picture Queensland.
