The auction was originally scheduled for 20 August 1887, however the sale was later postponed until 3 September. The results of the sale were published in The Telegraph newspaper.

"R.J. Cottell reports that the land sale at Norman Park on Saturday last, considering the unsettled state of monetary and other matters, was very satisfactory and successful. There were about 500 persons on the grounds, Norman Park having quite a holiday appearance, the total amount realised for 70 allotments being £2,494, giving an average of over £35 11s each." (The Telegraph, 5 September 1887, p.4)
