New Accession: Queensland Railways Advertising Posters (ca. 1915)

This is a brief entry about a recent Original Content acquisition—two colourful Queensland Railways Advertising posters, made by QR Advertising.

This primary producers’ co-operative, established in 1911, manufactured ham, bacon, smallgoods and canned food from its factory at Willowburn, Toowoomba.

In 1916, William Charles Krimmer (1867-1944), the founder of the 'K.R.' brand of ham and bacon, became the general manager of the Cooperative, bringing his 'K.R.' business with him.

The Co-operative, operating at a loss until then, thrived under Krimmer’s management and by the late 1930s had several premises in both Queensland and New South Wales.

The other poster in this accession is an advertisement for ‘Edwards and Murphy Premier Aerated Water Works’ (Rockhampton):
