National Police Remembrance Day

On 29 September we remember and honour police officers by wearing the blue and white checker ribbon associated with National Police Remembrance Day.

In Brisbane there was a march from Roma Street Police headquarters, which commenced at 9am and ended at King George Square.
A service was later held at St John’s Cathedral in Ann Street where the Very Reverend Dr Peter Catt, Dean of St. John's Cathedral and the police chaplain welcomed and read scriptures to attendees. The police commissioner Ian Stewart and the assistant commissioner also gave an address. Sharon Cowden acknowledged the contribution of the staff members who have died since National Police Remembrance Day 2017, Ms Bernadette Kemp and Ms Alma Kennedy presented the Roll of Honour.
Then the Governor of Queensland, His Excellency the Honourable Paul de Jersey AC representing the community and people of the state for the laying of floral tributes and the mentioning of the Police Ode by Detective Segeant Renee Tulacz.
