August is Australian National Family History month and State Library of Queensland joins various libraries, archives, genealogy societies and other organisations in celebrating this event.
There are many ways to participate with State Library’s family history activities this month, no matter whether you are beginning your family history research or have already discovered previous generations.
You can log on and ask questions through Facebook to one of State Library’s two "ASK US Family History Hour" events – the first is on Monday 13 August between 2-3 pm and the second is on Wednesday 22 August between 10-11 am. For further details click here
Not a Facebook user? Then you can submit your research requests through the Ask Us Online enquiry form
Or you can visit State Library in person, where friendly, expert staff are available to assist you – just don’t forget to bring your questions and your USB!
The State Library Family History web pages are a wealth of information. Whether you’re a beginner wanting to know the steps involved in starting your research or if you’re looking to add more detail to your family history there are a range of topics available to lead you on new and interesting paths. Search our free indexes to see if your ancestor appears, and become a member to access historical newspaper databases from home.
If you have some free time in the next few months check out State Library's family history workshops planned for September, October and November.
