Missing heritage - The Canegrower Weekly from Mackay
By JOL Admin | 29 July 2016
There is nothing worse when searching through old Queensland newspapers and magazines to discover gaps in our collection; missing issues which for some reason were never acquired by State Library of Queensland. Sadly, in the case of The Canegrower Weekly from Mackay, a periodical from the 1930's, only two issues exist in our collection (September 7, 1933 and February 14, 1935).
As evidenced by these two editions, this periodical provides a wonderful insight into 1930s community life in Mackay with local news, upcoming events, advertisements and photographs. State Library is hoping to recover and preserve more copies of The Canegrower Weekly, so that this historically valuable periodical is not lost forever.
That's where we need your help. If you have any copies of The Canegrower Weekly you don't need anymore, by donating them to State Library you are insuring the survival of this publication and well as providing access to all Queensland researchers.
