Longreach celebrates 125 years

By JOL Admin | 22 September 2012

Post Office in Longreach, ca. 1908. State Library of Queensland. Negative number: 24529

It's been 125 years since the town of Longreach was first established. From 21-30 September the Longreach community will be celebrating this milestone with a number of events and activities. This celebration also will highlight 25 years of Distance Education, 100 years of the Royal Flying Doctors and 120 years of the Longreach Town Band.

You can find more information on the Longreach 125 anniversary and reunion via their Facebook page.

The State Library of Queensland holds a wonderful collection documenting the history of Longreach including photographs, manuscripts, books and maps.

You can peruse our digitised collection of Longreach photographs online through our One Search catalogue.
