This real estate map from 1884 advertises land for sale at the Lizzy Lee Estate in the Brisbane suburb of Bardon. The allotments were situated along Mackay Terrace, Angus Street, Bee Street, Carroll Street and Lizzy Lee Road (now part of Boundary Road and Simpsons Road).
Prior to the sale extensive publicity was published in Brisbane newspapers.
Advertisement for the Lizzy Lee Estate, published in the Queensland Figaro, 5 April 1884, p.15
"Build your home at Lizzy Lee, every lot in which is to be positively sold by auction. Don't let those miserable feelings of "I can't afford it" step in between thee and the health and happiness of your wife and children. Get out of the city; and, I say it advisedly, you cannot get a healthier or a more convenient spot anywhere round the city than Lizzy Lee, which is only eighteen minutes' drive from the centre of Queen Street, and the 'busses ply to within a few chains of the Estate, and the proprietor will run right to the spot as soon as two or three cottages are erected on the property." (Queensland Figaro, 5 April 1884, p.15)
A public auction was held at the site on the afternoon of 26 April, 1884. The results of the sale were published in the Brisbane Courier newspaper.
"Mr John Cameron reports a very successful sale at Lizzy Lee today. A large company assembled, and forty-three lots were sold, realising a total of £1147". (Brisbane Courier, 28 April 1884, p.4)

From the 1960s to the 1970s, Frank and Eunice Corley drove the suburban streets of Queensland in their pink Cadillac, taking photographs of houses and selling them to homeowners.
