Flood images always popular

It’s funny how weather has a unifying effect on people.  We all run around living our own lives, with our own individual excitements, worries and experiences, but when weather conditions turn extreme, we are all united in this common experience.

Living in a tropical state, we are no strangers to cyclones and floods, and these topics are a perennial favourite with users of John Oxley Library’s collections.  The term ‘floods’ is one of the most popular search terms used on the Picture Queensland image database.  The top ten most frequently viewed images on Picture Queensland (with between 2 and 5 views per day) are listed below.  Seven of these are flood images.

Hi there,

I hope you are well.

My name is Michaela Barklie and I am the deputy photo editor for the Daily Mail Australia.

We are doing an article showing the floods in Queensland and I have seen some images in your library showing the floods that have happened over the years.
I was hoping we might be able to get your permission to run this image on our website and if possible any other images of the floods that you have archived.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Best regards,

Michaela
