Flood images always popular

It’s funny how weather has a unifying effect on people.  We all run around living our own lives, with our own individual excitements, worries and experiences, but when weather conditions turn extreme, we are all united in this common experience.

Living in a tropical state, we are no strangers to cyclones and floods, and these topics are a perennial favourite with users of John Oxley Library’s collections.  The term ‘floods’ is one of the most popular search terms used on the Picture Queensland image database.  The top ten most frequently viewed images on Picture Queensland (with between 2 and 5 views per day) are listed below.  Seven of these are flood images.
