kuril dhagun is excited to be a part of this year's Clancestry: A celebration of country.
As part of our continuing celebration of the International Year of Indigenous Languages we will be setting up with our Say G'Day Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander languages jenga set at Yawar: A gathering on 30 November.
Yawar: A Gathering is a signature event of Clancestry and will bring together traditional and contemporary artists from across Brisbane and South East Queensland, in an exchange of song, dance, music and storytelling, that celebrates the rich diversity of multiple First Nations voices, living and creating on this country.
We will be joining a deadly program of First Nations artists including eXcelsior Dance, Chocolatte Boxx, Blackcard Cultural Tours, music by Emily Wurramara, DRMNGNOW, Tasman Keith, circus and digeridoo workshops and more.
Make sure you pop in and Say G'Day!
Participation in Clancestry builds on our work together earlier this year when the State Library of Queensland partnered with the Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) to facilitate collection exploration sessions as part of the creative development program - Seedlings.
Three groups of Seedlings artists - dancers, playwrights and musicians - spent time exploring State Library collections that connect to their family, language and culture as an enlightening foundation for a week of creative exploration.
Seedlings artists have already begun to showcase their performance outcomes as part of QPAC First Nations.
Check out the full program for a list of events featuring this deadly crew.
