black&write! goes to Emerging Writers' Festival

black&write! are excited to announce Ellen, Yasmin, and Grace travel to Melbourne this Thursday to attend the 2015 Emerging Writers' Festival.

The centrepiece of Emerging Writers' Festival is the two-day National Writers' Conference at Melbourne Town Hall. This conference aims to inform and inspire writers from every genre and style. This is a fantastic opportunity to meet and learn from an incredibly diverse, incredibly talented pool of writers and industry professionals from all over the country.

black&write! will be co-presenting with EWF for the second year in a row. This year we join forces to launch Jane Harrison's book, Becoming Kirrali Lewis, published by Magabala. Jane was a 2014 black&write! Indigenous Writing Fellowship winner, and her beautiful coming-of-age novel is a product of that process. Jane will be reading for this event, along with her daughter. The night will also feature readings by Tammy Anderson, Hannah Donnelly and Yasmin Smith.

Our senior editor and two intern editors are also going to be attending events including a whole day event at one of Australia's biggest publishing houses, Hachette Australia. This is a behind-the-scenes workshop, to learn the entire production process of a book – from acquisition to sales – meeting publishers, editors and marketers throughout. This is a very exciting chance to see how books really get made!

Jane Harrison's book launch will be held 9pm Tuesday June 2nd at Thousand Pound Bend, Little Lonsdale St, Melbourne
