Australia’s First Indigenous Startup Weekend

Proudly hosted at The Edge, Australia’s First Indigenous Startup Weekend is a not-for-profit event Powered by Google, which sets out to tackle the development of more Indigenous owned and operated business by increased promotion of Indigenous Entrepreneurship. The event is a social impact initiative organised by two Kamilarioi men, Troy Casey and Dean Foley, who are extremely passionate about creating a sustainable economy and empowering Indigenous communities.
Australia’s First Indigenous Startup Weekend will be held at The Edge, State Library of Queensland from 26 – 28 August.
Over the course of a weekend, the participants and aspiring Indigenous Entrepreneurs will be aided by coaches and mentors to acquire the skills and experience they need to launch a startup business in a condensed and restrictive 54-hour time frame.
It’s all about learning the skills and gaining experience in entrepreneurship by taking part in pitching, business model creation, coding, designing and market validation. At the end of the weekend, your team will pitch their idea to a panel of success business people (judges) for your chance to win some awesome prizes from our awesome sponsors.
