Archer Family papers featured in new Talbot Family Treasures Wall exhibition

By JOL Admin | 3 September 2008

The Archer brothers were amongst Queensland's earliest European settlers, taking up land on the upper reaches of the Brisbane and Stanley Rivers in 1841.  It was here that the Archers established Durundur Station, near present day Woodford.

Later, the Archers took up Gracemere Station on the Fitzroy River.  The city of Rockhampton now stands on part of the original Gracemere run.
