Portrait of an artist: Megan Cope

Meet contemporary Queensland artist Megan Cope, in conversation with Pat Hoffie AM.

Megan is a Quandamooka artist from Moreton Bay/Minjerribah (North Stradbroke Island) in South East Queensland. Her site-specific sculptural installations, paintings and public artworks investigate issues relating to identity, history, the environment and mapping practices.

With her work widely collected by significant institutions both here and abroad, Megan has received important commissions and residencies around the world. In 2017-2019 she was the Australian War Memorial’s Official War Artist and in 2024, received the Creative Australia Award for Emerging and Experimental Arts. Most recently, she was invited to participate in this year’s Sharjah Biennial in the United Arab Emirates and Hawai’i Triennial.

Join us for this special event to hear about the artist, her life and the influences that have shaped her practice.
