Getting started with Family History research

Beginning to research your family can be tricky if you’re not sure where to start. Knowing what resources to search and where to begin can make the journey easier.

Join our staff at State library of Queensland as they explain how to start your family history, cover some useful resources, and demonstrate how to use the resources and equipment.

During this 45 minute session you will:

• learn the steps you can take when beginning family history and the types of records you can keep,
• discover some of the most useful resources for researching genealogy, and
• participate in a hands-on activity learning how to use some of the resources including the microfilm machines.
