Design your own picture frame
3D design, print and cast workshop
Get creative and design a portrait frame that’s uniquely yours in this two-part workshop at The Edge.
To celebrate Brisbane Portrait Prize at State Library, discover the craft of framing and learn how artists and makers have shaped the way portraits are displayed through history. Over two Saturday sessions, you’ll explore the art of bevels and borders while learning practical skills in 3D modelling, printing, and resin pouring.
At the end, you’ll take home your very own handmade frame — the perfect setting for a portrait that inspires you. And for those who want to make multiple frames, you can keep its mould as well.
Please note that you must be able to attend both sessions, as the second builds on the workflow from the previous session. No previous 3D modelling knowledge is required, just intermediate computer skills, creativity and enthusiasm.
