Terms and conditions

Use of the eresources is governed by licence agreements between vendors or publishers and State Library of Queensland, and you need to comply with the terms and conditions of the licences.

Use must be for private research and study purposes, and by residents of Queensland only. No use is allowed for business, commercial or work-related purposes. State Library of Queensland's licence agreements do not permit use of these databases as teaching resources in classroom environments in schools and other educational institutions. A link to State Library eresources webpage or our OneSearch catalogue may be placed on the school website, but not to individual databases. Use is to be by the registered individual only - access is not transferable to other parties.

A limited amount of copying or reproducing of material from the eresources/databases is usually permitted for private research and study purposes only. You should read carefully any copyright or terms of use statements appearing within the databases and act in accordance with instructions.

Licence agreements may also include restrictions on how the content can be used with generative artificial intelligence (Gen AI) technologies. Unless explicitly permitted in the resource’s terms, you must not use licensed library content with AI tools. This includes uploading files, copying and pasting content, and manually entering data into generative AI tools. To find out if an eresource permits use in AI, look for terms such as terms of use, terms and conditions, usage rights, licence, copyright, or legal on the eresource you are using. Some eresources may have embedded their own generative AI tools which are designed for use with their own content.
