Name the Streets

State Library of Queensland has a unique collection of Real Estate maps which are invaluable for investigating the history of urban landscapes. They provide information about how land was subdivided, first auctioned, the surveyors, and who sold the land. They also express different styles of typography and graphic design, indicative of the decade in which they were created.

Help us capture this information by transcribing all the street names listed in the maps. Check out the tutorial for instructions !

The maps which are predominantly from suburban Brisbane also include a number from regional areas such as the Gold and Sunshine Coasts, and Cairns.

You can also view a list of all State Library's digitised estate maps in One Search, the library catalogue.
