Our commitment to children and young people
Everyone has a part to play in supporting the growth and wellbeing of children and young people. At State Library, we show our commitment through these promises to you.
- Respect: We treat you and your family equally no matter who you are or where you are from.
- Include: We provide different ways for you to access our programs and services and be part of our community.
- Inform: We give you information and resources that help you and your family learn about your rights.
- Collect: We preserve and share the voices of Queensland’s children and young people through our heritage collections to help adults understand what is important to them.
- Protect: We make our place happy and comfortable for you. We make sure our team knows how to make you feel welcome and keep you safe.
- Listen: We ask for your opinion on our programs and services and listen to what you have to say.
- Help: We provide different ways for you to ask us for help. You can trust that we care about your needs and feelings and will always try our best to support you.
State Library is committed to the Child Safe Organisations framework. Our work is guided by our Children and Families Strategy. Questions, comments and complaints can be raised at any of our service desks or by completing our online form.

Children’s voices
State library collects and preserves Queensland’s cultural memory and is committed to intentionally collecting, listening to and sharing the voices of children and young people. We do this through a program of collection building and preservation, incorporating the voices of children and young people in our programs and exhibitions.
