Thomas Carrisey #Q21121

Indigenous Australian, Thomas CARRISEY, No.1 Depot Company

Thomas Carrisey enlisted in Charleville 9 June 1917 and was assigned to No.1 Depot Company.

Thomas was not accepted for service based on his heritage - his mother was an Aboriginal woman - Margaret Williams and his father a South Sea Islander - William Carrisey.

Thomas married Kathleen Koosney in 1933 and remained in the Maranoa region working as a stockman until his death in 1959.

+ Kathleen Koosney was the daughter of ‘Captain’ Koosney, a South Sea Islander, and Dinah Currie, an Aboriginal woman.
