By Melissa Reynolds | 4 March 2025

Get ready for a whirlwind of creativity and digital fun across regional South West Queensland! State Library is launching a new series of free Digital and You workshops with everyone invited to join in and discover exciting new ways to develop their digital skills.
Whether you're curious about technology, want to learn new business skills, or keen to try out a new hobby in a friendly community setting, this series is the perfect opportunity to dive in and explore the digital world.
The series kicks off on Saturday 8 March 2025 with a weekend of digital workshops, followed by a four-week program of free workshops at Quilpie Library. Come along to the Digital and You information session from 9 am to 10 am on Saturday 8 March for a rundown of the upcoming programs. There will be a chance to ask questions and get help with workshop enrolments.
Activities over the four weeks cover a wide range of interests including creative ways to share local heritage, customising your baking, fashion design, introductory computer skills, leather crafts, and much more.
Another weekend of workshops will take place in Eromanga on Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 March.
Mitch Greig, State Library’s Regional Digital Development Officer for South West Queensland, says the innovative program is designed to encourage people to share experiences, collaborate on creative projects, and gain valuable skills that can improve both employability and personal interests.
“These workshops deliver practical skills that are directly applicable to everyday life and business but are also a great way to connect communities to learn and develop together,” he said.
“We want everyone to be able to realise their digital potential and have the chance to try new technologies and their applications.
“Participants will get hands-on experience with Cricut machines, 3D and fabric printers, learn how to simplify tasks using AI, and use online resources to access helpful information or understand more about the functions on their smartphones and other devices.
“We’re excited to see the projects that participants come up with and how these will enrich their experiences and contribute to personal growth.”
The free workshop series will be delivered across regional South West Queensland with stops in Quilpie, Bulloo, Paroo, Balonne, Goondiwindi, Murweh, and Maranoa Shire council areas from March to December 2025.
The Digital and You series offers something for everyone, no matter your current digital skill level. Don’t miss out on this incredible opportunity to learn, create, and have fun with digital technology.
