PLAG provides advice to the Library Board of Queensland on policy and strategy matters concerning public libraries. The group also represents the views of public librarians, local government and relevant stakeholders to the Library Board through formal community engagement processes.

There are several significant items on PLAG’s agenda this year including the triennial review of the public library grant methodology, and the development of a new vision for Queensland public libraries in partnership with the LGAQ (Local Government Association of Queensland) and the QPLA (Queensland Public Libraries Association).

New members to PLAG include: Esther Buys (Vice President of QPLA and Coordinator Library Services, Sunshine Coast Regional Council), Cr Alf Lacey (Mayor of Palm Island Aboriginal Shire Council), Cr Joyce McCulloch (Mayor Mount Isa City Council) and Dell Price (Coordinator Libraries, Central Highlands Regional Council). For a full list of the group’s members visit Public Libraries Connect.
