Reference enquiry sample opens on Sunday 5 February

By administrator | 3 February 2017

All Queensland public libraries need to collect reference and information enquiries as they are standard performance measures. These performance measures are incorporated into the annual Statistical Bulletin and the national public library statistical report. If you need more info on the reporting requirements, please see item 1.2.4 of the Operational Services Standard.

On Sunday 5 February the first reference enquiry sample period opens and closes on Saturday 18 February. The sample periods are set for 14 calendar days, beginning on a Sunday and concluding on a Saturday. This ensures the full spread of library opening hours are included, whatever combination of hours or days your library is open to the public. This year the definition has been clarified following your feedback and suggestions, and now includes demonstrating and troubleshooting e-Resources, queries regarding apps and functions of personal devices to access resources, assistance in the use of public PCs, locating and downloading forms and uploading documents. The dates for the remaining samples can be found here.

As the collection method for these statistics can be either a continuous year-round count or via four annual samples, the data collected during the sample periods is multiplied by 6.5 to provide estimated annual statistics.  You will be asked to indicate the collection method used when entering data for the annual Statistical Bulletin return.
