Peter Corris has enjoyed decades of popularity as one of Australia’s most loved crime writes. His novels can be found in homes and on libraries around Australia. His popular Cliff Hardy series is set in Sydney and features a tough, hard drinking private investigator who endures his own hardships. In his novels, Corris masterfully depicts the underbelly of some of Australia’s society.

He was the author of over 102 books including 60 Cliff Hardy titles. Since he began writing in 1980 he was nominated for a range of literary awards and received the Ned Kelly Award for Lifetime Achievement in 1999.

Peter Corris was referred to as the Godfather of Australian crime. On his website he is credited with reviving the fully fledged Australian crime novel with local settings and reference points and with a series firmly rooted in Australian culture.

The final novel and last Cliff Hardy title was Win, Lose or Draw published in 2017. Other titles include: Follow the Money, Silent Kill, and That Empty Feeling.

In his obituary, The Sydney Morning Herald says “Corris has offered an incidental but extraordinary commentary on the changing social and cultural landscape of Sydney with some interesting side-trips along the way."
