“Art should be experienced beyond the confines of a white-walled gallery space. The Façade Exhibition Program transforms the building’s exterior into a site for story-telling – illuminating culture and history through public art to challenge and inspire our community.” — Georgia Hayward, Outer Space Director.
Over two sessions, The Edge will function as an incubator and creative hub for dialogue, skill development and ideation as it welcomes its doors to early, emerging and mid-career artists from across the state.
Equipped with learning resources for research and development, The Edge laser cut a replica model of the Judith Wright building to assist with site-specific strategies and planning, potential limitations and creative workarounds.
The artist were guided through working with software Madmapper, an industry-leading, dedicated projection mapping program which we've recently installed on the Digital Media Lab Mac Studio computers and Lenovo laptops.
In session one, Outer Space artists explored the basics of the software, its workflow, capabilities and interface. In session two, the artists will have the chance to get hands-on with State Library projectors to develop skills and storytelling further.

The Edge supports opportunities for professional development with local arts organisations as a creative hub for learning, exploration and play. As a supportive resource for Outer Space's 2025–2026 Facade Exhibition Program, The Edge strives to aid, champion and assist emerging storytellers from Queensland. We can't wait to see the outcome of this collaborative exchange.
The exhibition runs from 1 May 2025 –30 April 2026 and features the following artists:
Dylan Bolger, Katherine Palella, Sirena Varma, Uncle Noel Blair, Chelsea Carkeet, Paean Sarker, Juniper Errey, Pamela See, Ben Tupas, Col Mac, Tamika Grant-Iramu.
