Whitsunday New Children's Membership Card

Good things come in small (and very cute) packages as Whitsunday Libraries have demonstrated by announcing the launch of a new children’s card during Children’s Book Week. The new membership card, generously designed and donated by cartoonist and children’s author Dave Hackett, represents each facet of the Whitsunday region.

Dave had drafted the design after his first cartoon workshop at Bowen Library, over lunch! Dave revisited the Whitsundays, and his workshops were a welcome relief for children (and adults) at Cannonvale, Collinsville and Proserpine libraries, after Cyclone Debbie’s scary and devastating visit to the region.

Dave’s generous gift is very much appreciated by all Whitsunday library staff, who have been lobbying for a special children’s membership card to help promote and market the library service. Our First 5 Forever Project Officer, Ros Hearn, will be promoting our unique children’s card at future First 5 Forever events and activities.

About the author: Terry Mills-Edward is the Team Leader of Bowen/Collinsville Libraries.  Terry has been in this role for three years, focusing on creating vibrant, and twenty-first century community hubs.
