Burdekin Shire Council hosted a State Library of Queensland (State Library) professional development event on 11 April. Alexis Adams is the Library Services Manager at Burdekin Library and here are her thoughts on the experience:

Apart from the great content provided by the presenters, the day was really useful in creating networking opportunities for staff attending from Burdekin, Whitsunday and Townsville City libraries.

The topic was ‘Digitising and describing collections to improve discoverability’ and the trainers were Leif Ekstrom (digitisation) and Rachel Merrick (description).

This is the second State Library training event I’ve been involved with and I can thoroughly recommend the experience. State Library staff (hi Janet!) do all the hard yards and the host really only has to decide what training suits them best, arrange a venue and find someone to cater for the day (paid for by State Library)… Simples!!
