Monty the Robot Visits Redland Libraries

Redland Libraries had the opportunity to loan the NAO robot from SLQ for a month to showcase the latest in technology to our communities. The special robotics session was rolled out to branches in the Redlands in conjunction with National Science Week.
Monty the NAO Robot came to visit Victoria Point Library. Everyone had so much fun watching him dance to Gangnam Style!
The NAO robot Monty travelled with a staff member to the mobile library, Victoria Point, Cleveland and Capalaba libraries showing off the robot's skills and demonstrating how it can make learning coding exciting and accessible. The sessions covered how to code Monty as well as a demonstration of its functions - and finished off with a dance, song and story.
It was a great opportunity for Redland Libraries to introduce a humanoid robot to the community and for the library staff and community to get a glimpse of the future of technology. Monty was a big hit with all ages especially when it performed Gangnam Style complete with flashing lights and pumping music!
The Mobile Library had a special guest on the Mt Cotton stop the other day. Meet Monty the NAO robot, he can tell a story, sing and dance.
