Lockyer Valley Libraries bring First 5 Forever to the park

Lockyer Valley Libraries have designed and installed interactive stickers in two local parks as part of their First 5 Forever program.

Families taking a stroll around Lake Apex Park in Gatton or the Laidley Green Space at McNulty Park will find the interactive stickers on the pathways.

These stickers are a wonderful tool to share the First 5 Forever messages and at the same time create an environment where parents and children talk, play, read and sing.

Interactive stickers work as a fun and engaging game for children and parents to play together, developing language and communication skills for children from 0-5 years and their families.

The aim is for children to be exposed to words, numbers, nursery rhymes and directional print.

The stickers are colourful, visually pleasing and evoke conversation and interaction.

Since installation they have proven to be a great way to engage with non-library users, providing a supportive environment for parents and caregivers to connect with their children.

It is hoped additional stickers will be installed in more parks around the region after a trial period.
