It’s not too late to start reading for the 2021 Premier’s Reading Challenge!

By Young People and Families | 3 June 2021

Do you love reading or want to better your reading skills? Register for the Premier’s Reading Challenge (PRC) open to Queensland students up to Year 9.

Read a set number of books, or more, between 10 May and 27 August to complete the challenge and receive a signed certificate from the Premier.

In 2020, 905 schools and 318 centres took part in the challenge, combining more than 161,000 Queensland children and students reading 2.23 million books. What an achievement!

The challenge is open to all state, non-state and home-educated students from Prep to Year 9 as well as children enrolled at an early childhood centre. Reading can take place at school or at home.

The 2021 Premier's Reading Challenge is on now!

The Challenge aims to encourage as many children as possible to read, experience and enjoy books, including books in other languages and audio books.

You’ll find everything you need to know for this year’s challenge on the How to register page. The PRC book lists are also a helpful guide for reading material.

On the Downloads and forms page you'll also find reader record forms, posters and bookmarks to print and share.

Being part of the Challenge just takes three easy steps:

Step 1. Register online

Step 2. Read 15 or 20 books before 27 August

Step 3. Record books read in the database by 3 September

Don't forget - libraries will have most recommneded of the books and the friendly staff are well practiced at recommending amazing books to read... so be sure to check in at your local public library for their Premiers Reading Challenge recommendations to support your child's reading challenge!
