Grant opportunity in celebration of National Reconciliation Week

National Reconciliation Week is a national campaign with the aim of celebrating respectful relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and other Australians.

‘Don’t Keep History a Mystery’ is the theme for 2018, which gives all Australians the opportunity to celebrate and reflect on our shared history.

It is in this spirit of celebration and reflection that The Celebrating Reconciliation Small Grants Program is offering  support for up to 40 ‘grass roots’ reconciliation events across Queensland held in and around National Reconciliation Week. This support is in the form of small grants up to $2500 per event (exc. GST) for events which raise community awareness around National Reconciliation Week. They should also promote respect, trust and positive relationships between the wider Queensland community and Aboriginal peoples and Torres Strait Islander peoples and encourage community participation and engagement.

Public libraries and Indigenous Knowledge Centres (IKCs), being heart and hub of their communities are in a great position to promote this opportunity and serve as a conduit to get local events happening.
