Digitising Collections – Toolkit Available

By administrator | 27 February 2017

Libraries often receive requests from community organisations for assistance in digitising their collections. They want to know how to get started, what equipment they will need, the best way of sharing and more.

A new online resource from the GLAM peak body Digital Access to Collections could help provide the answer. The resource includes a four-step Toolkit which provides practical tips for planning, preparing, digitising and sharing collections, as well as case studies which show a diversity of other community organisations which have successfully shared their resources.

The ultimate goal is to unlock collections held in small and large organisations, and make them discoverable and available for everyone.

For further support, you can refer interested parties to State Library’s Digitisation Toolkit which shares information about how to digitise Queensland's heritage collections for access, use and reuse from anywhere and at any time via the internet.
