Digital technologies can unite, but they can also divide

The epitome of digital technologies, according to National Year of Digital Inclusion Champion Pino Migliorino, is the facilitation of inclusion, and the addressing of barriers that create exclusion.

Digital technologies have the potential to unite communities
Pino shared his insight into the needs for digital literacy in culturally and linguistically diverse communities (CALD) at the National Year of Digital Inclusion Festival in Sydney, November 2016.
The involvement of CALD communities in the planning stage needs to be the new mantra for technology development and just like the disability movement, the CALD community needs to firmly adopt the adage “nothing about us without us”, he says.
To find out how Pino suggests we do this, you read the full transcript of his presentation here.
