State Library has been running the Siganto Digital Learning Workshops regularly at The Edge for many years in collaboration with Multicultural Australia and with recent disruptions due to flood events, a new model of delivery had to be explored.
Due to the floods, it also meant that the equipment that is usually used to run these workshops was unavailable. Luckily the much-needed computer gear was generously donated to the program by Substation33, an ewaste and recycler located in Kingston.
Substation33 provided us with 20 computer desktops, monitors and peripherals, which were used to deliver training in digital literacy, focusing on computer components, operating systems and online safety.
The workshops were delivered during the April school holidays at Multicultural Australia’s offices in Woolloongabba and all the participants were able to take home the computers they worked on during the sessions.
