The Darling to officially open ahead of the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games

After three years of construction, a date has finally been announced for the opening of The Star Gold Coast's new hotel, The Darling, which will open its doors on March 22 ahead of the Commonwealth Games.

Located at the front of the Broadbeach Island property, the new 17-storey hotel forms the centrepiece of The Star Gold Coast's landmark transformation.

The Darling is a luxury accommodation with with each level of the building featuring just seven suites, as well as a northern Penthouse Suite and a southern Penthouse Deluxe Suite.

The building features premium resort facilities and gaming amenities as well as a rooftop restaurant and bar with a view called Nineteen at The Star.

The Star Entertainment Group managing director Queensland Geoff Hogg says the lead up to unveil the hotel, which has been three years in the making, is an incredibly exciting time.

"The Darling positions The Star Gold Coast at the premium end of the market and ensure the Gold Coast has an even more compelling value proposition as we seek to compete on a global scale for domestic and international visitors," says Hogg. Read more
