Check out Marsden Library’s Sensory Space!

Logan City Council Libraries’ Sensory Space is a hands-on environment for families and children of all abilities to explore and learn together through play via technology, sight, sound, touch and movement.

Developed in partnership with sector and industry specialists, the space is in the children's area of the Marsden Library and built with funding from the State Library of Queensland's Vision 2017 grant program and Logan City Council. Amongst a range of special features, it includes play-based equipment including a bubble tube, touch screen, tablets and wall toys. Kits for families and groups to use with children are also available including social and emotions, tactile, fine coordination, auditory, visual, relaxation and switch toys.

Since it’s launch in December 2015, the space has proven to be very popular for families with children aged 0-12 years. Playgroups, schools, childcare centres and other groups also book in to visit the space.

The Sensory Space offers a number of regular programs, including monthly Sensory story time (recommended for children aged 10 and under); and Sensory playground, where different senses are explored each month using the space’s games and equipment.

Since the development of the Sensory Space and its regular programs, four other Logan City Council Libraries locations now also offer Sensory story times. These libraries will host Celebrate your senses: Sensory story time throughout Disability Action Week (Sunday 9 to Saturday 15 September).
