Celebrating the 'shoey': Start-up shares Grand Prix stories

Daniel Ricciardo is promising to bring back the "shoey", where he toasts his victory by drinking champagne from his shoe, if he takes out the Australian F1 Grand Prix this year.

Roamni is a travel app and audio tour platform that aims to change the way people travel by connecting them with audio tours and stories told by locals. Founders Greg Curcio and Jason Fabbri say exhibiting the app at the RMIT Activator marquee at the Grand Prix is a great opportunity to link visitors with stories about Melbourne.

"We are showcasing the best Melbourne stories across all different sporting events we are known for," says Curcio. "There are a lot of domestic and international visitors, it's a big tourism event and getting the word out will hopefully create a bigger community for Roamni."

A new kind of guided tour


Ricciardo's shoey is one of the key Melbourne sporting moments two entrepreneurs are showcasing at the Grand Prix this weekend with their newly launched app, Roamni. Curcio came up with the idea for Roamni after a trip to Turkey, where he had a bad experience with a guided tour. Read more
