Celebrate International Women’s Day!

By administrator | 6 March 2017

International Women’s Day is on Wednesday 8th March - and there’s still time to celebrate in your library!

State Library is hosting a panel discussion, presentations and performances to celebrate inspiring women – past, present and future.

Each one of us can be a leader within our own spheres of influence by taking action to accelerate gender parity.

Each one of us can be a leader within our own spheres of influence by taking action to accelerate gender parity.

Why not take some action in your own library? Here are a few quick ideas:

  • Highlight local women on your social media feeds

  • Create a display to ask users what bold actions they're taking to help drive gender parity

  • Have only women authors on your book ends for the day

  • Ask young visitors to write or create an art piece about the most inspiring woman they know

  • Join the selfie card challenge –for staff and visitors

  • Use the day to reach out to one new user group in your community

How is your library celebrating International Women’s Day this year? We’d love to hear your ideas and see images of your events below.
