Exciting new programs and events will be coming to 18 councils throughout Queensland following the awarding of the 2018 Public Library Strategic Priorities grants.

Total funding of $448,440 has been allocated to deliver projects across Queensland in the 2018–2019 financial year, through the Barcaldine, Brisbane, Burdekin, Cassowary Coast, Charters Towers, Cook, Douglas, Gold Coast, Ipswich, Logan, Maranoa, McKinlay, Palm Island, Rockhampton, Tablelands, Toowoomba and Whitsunday councils.

Projects focus on the themes outlined in The Next Horizon: Vision 2017 for Public Libraries or supports the OPAL Program objectives, and are as diverse as a micro-festival of gaming, development of business and entrepreneurial skills for young adults and family STEM events featuring virtual reality.

Throughout 2018 and 2019 the Public Libraries Connect Blog will feature articles highlighting the outcomes of each project, showcasing impacts, successes and learnings.

With 35 applications received from individual councils requesting funds totalling more than $855,000 this grant round was very competitive, and we congratulate all the successful applicants.

A full list of the successful grant applicants can be found on Public Libraries Connect.
