State Library conservator Kelly Leahey has been working with the curator Imelda Miller and the exhibition designer Nadine Cameron to work out how to display each item in the exhibition. This is an important part of the exhibition development process, when staff assess the condition of each item. During this time staff will plan how each item is to be cared for before, during and after it is on display.  This may include pre-display treatments and repairs, how much light exposure for each item, what kind of frame will images be placed in, and will specially made mounts or supports be required for each individual item while it is on display. Careful consideration needs to be given to all the items as many have never been out on public display in an exhibition and most of the albums and images are over 100 years old.
