Introduction to family history

Beginning to research your family can be tricky if you’re not sure where to start. Knowing what resources to search and where to begin can make the journey easier.

This session will start with an overview of useful resources, search tips and how to get started. This will be followed by a hands-on experience with the microfilm machines and online resources. This session will help you build confidence in finding, evaluating, and using online family history resources and is intended to be a practical overview with live demonstrations and ample time for questions.

What to bring:

  • Optional: laptop or tablet
  • USB – for saving items
  • Any information you might want to use for researching afterwards.
