Game Changers in conversation with Gail Sorronda
Internationally acclaimed designer and the queen of dark romance, Gail Sorronda has challenged the conventions of both fashion and business. Now marking 2 decades of artistry that has pushed boundaries, Sorronda has built a legacy in Australian Fashion, proving that a global brand can be built from Queensland through innovation, creativity and a clear sense of purpose.
After graduating from QUT, rather than following the traditional path to Australian or overseas fashion capitals, Sorronda built her internationally recognised brand from Brisbane, redefining what it means to lead a creative enterprise. Her entrepreneurial approach has challenged industry norms, bypassing the traditional fast-paced seasonal calendar to release collections based on artistic concepts around timeless gothic-romantic pieces and core offerings.
By combining creative vision with commercial innovation, Sorronda has demonstrated how values-driven leadership can reshape an industry. Her work has been a powerful catalyst in decentralising Australian fashion away from Sydney and Melbourne - proving that being a Brisbane-based designer no longer faces the limitations it has in the past.
What is it really like to challenge convention and change an industry? Join us for an inspiring conversation with Gail Sorronda as we explore the intersections of creativity, entrepreneurship and innovation - and how she built a global fashion brand from Brisbane.
This conversation will be facilitated by Alison Kubler
